HI!!

Hello, I'm excited by the recent uptake in viewings, thank you!!  Please comment on this post telling me what you would like to see.  I have a large and growing collection of fan made material, my goal is to post it all here in an effort to make a one-stop spot for house rules.  In addition to posting other's work I will be posting my own unfinished ideas for your review.  If you see modelguyicmt in the Librarium Online forums, that's me, I usually stick to the Rules Development, though I occasionally post in the 40K Fluff section.  Thanks again, ~Ian.

CHAOS!!!!

A collection of Chaos Marine Fandex's.  6 to be exact.  Quite tasty if you like crunchy Chaos flavoured lists.

A list of modifications to existing units by Herald of Nurgle as part of a project to make 40K more balanced.

A well made Chaos Marine Fandex.  A few new fluff squads, Iron Warriors Basilisk for example.

A purely World Eaters list.

A very well made 'dex, also by Herald of Nurgle.

A slightly over complicated 'dex based on the old Slaves to Darkness and Lost and the Damned Chaos books.  Random mutations, ect.

Fandex Kroot 2010

An update for the 3rd ed. Kroot Mercenaries list.  Pretty much what you would expect from a Kroot list, either stand-alone, or as mercenaries in certain armies.  Takes the standard Kroot rules from the Tau codex and gives the older ones a facelift.  Units from Imperial Armour 3 as well.  I was hoping for some non-canon Kroot vehicles, but the Fast Attack and Heavy Support are all based on Krootox and Knarlocs.  Guess I'll have to find  my Kroot vehicles somewhere else :p.

The last twelve pages are taken up by the modeling and paint galleries, some very nice conversions and paint schemes therein.  The units themselves are all competent, no over or underpowering it seems, though one interesting unit placement is the Baggage Greater Knarlocs being placed in the Troops section with the Carnivore squads.  Yes, that's right you can have up to 3 T-5 W-5 fleeting meatshields per Carnivore squad at only 35 points each...mmmmmm.  The only beef I have with this codex is that they took the Kroot Hounds out of the Carnivore squads and gave them to one of the (admittedly cool) Elite squads, and even they can only have 5 per squad.

All in all a great Fandex 5/5 stars.

First post: Fandex Inquisition 2010

This is simply a fantastic piece of work.  Combining Ordos Malleus, Hereticus and Xenos along with their respective combat forces- Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle and Deathwatch.  Though at first glance this project is nothing more than a combination of the Ordos and Adeptus, you will be pleasantly suprised to find that there is more to this book than a simple rehashing of GW lists.  For example; all Inquisitors must be labeled as 'Puritan' or 'Radical', this affects a few things.  For instance only Puritans may take the psychic power 'Purgatos', and only Radicals may take Xenos Mercenaries.  Yes, that's right.  Xenos Mercenaries, specifically Kroot (not really a suprise), Orks, Eldar and... Demiurg.

Some other nifty additions: Untouchables may be added to you Inquisitor's Retinue, thereby providing their anti-psyker abilities; Grey Knight Troop squads now have access to ALL of their psychic powers (they only choose one for the game), access to the Stromraven ;), and they have 2 attacks base; Deathwatch Librarians have their own psychic power list with some tastiness lurking within; Sisters gain access to a Stormraven variant- the Erelim Lander.  In addition, all the lists are in line with the current wargear of the Imperium i.e. 3++ Storm Shields, and many existing units get access to more wargear.  This is simply a must have for any player of the Inquisition/Grey Knights/Deathwatch/Sisters.  The only thing I can find wrong with it is an apparently accidental lack of Special Characters.  There is a title 'Special Characters' right before the summary at the end of the book, but it is a blank page.

5/5 stars.

Grand Opening

Never thought I'd start a blog, this is weird...  Ok, so the only purpose of this is to cater to House Rules, I'm sure you've already figured this out though, so I'll give a better explanation.  I don't play games, I have no one to actually play them with,k so I have become a rule aficionado and fluff bunny zealot.  Specifically in two major games: Battletech and Warhammer 40k, but also to a lesser extent Warhammer Fantasy.  I'm mostly concerned with fluffiness, to me if something isn't fluffae its boring as hell.  If I want competition and pure rule based games with little to no fluff, I go play COD.  The combination of all of the above has lead me to become an obsessive house rule crafter and seeker.  Truthfully I think I would be considered addicted *twitch,...sniffs plasticrack*.  Now I don't want to skew your perception of my gaminess, I grew up with a father that made scale military models, I love putting together a kitbashed smurf squad as much as the next guy.  But unfortunately, I can't afford to.  Additionally, I have never played a game... I know, I know, but its really not my fault, I've just never had anyone to throw down with.  I've got some 40k and Fantasy and Battletech models, most of which are painted.

But what I really adore about these games is their background, and how I might go about fleshing out and quantifying the fluff via rules.  Now, when it comes to Battletech, there really isn't a whole lot more you could possibly improve upon rules wise, its pretty much ALL there (thanks mostly to the awesome guys at Catalyst).  But in both flavors of Warhammer, there is an astounding amount of unexplored, or (IMO) poorly explored opportunities.  And my brain waters at the thought of all the emptiness I can color in.

So, what I plan to do with this blog is multifaceted.  Firstly I'm going to scour the net searching for ALL House Rules I can find, and post them here.  Whether its a single rule giving 5th ed Smurfs the choice of having a Terminator Command squad again, or an entire collection of excellently produced fan made books, I plan on compiling them in one place, if only to further my nefarious intentions.  Secondly, I'm going to post the veritable library of House Rules I myself have made.  And finally, the huge and likely impossible dream of uniting all 40k/ Fantasy/ Battletech House Rulers under one roof...  The House of House Rulers?  I've noticed over the past year that there have been a few places where people have attempted to bring 'brewers' together, and try to give their rules some sense of 'officialdom', but in my eyes they are all cumbersome.  Their methods are too strict, attempting to make House Rules with a 'tournament' style officiality in mind is WRONG!!  It goes against the very point of having an official ruleset respected by everyone, and then having personal rules catering to one's own view.  House Rules are just that... rules you play when you're playing in your house.  If they are good enough that everyone agrees to use them, then great.  If not, oh well, who gives a **** they're my rules anyway.

Ya, so that's what this blog is all about, expect to see the first few posts containing links to rules soon.

Thanks for reading, I hope you stick around.
